India-Nepal Cabinet

The India – Nepal bilateral cabinet is a specialized summit between the ministries of these two neighboring countries set to tackle the issues of contention between these countries so they can move past their differences and work in harmony for regional co-operation and the eventual growth of both countries. The Nepal cabinet consists of the Prime- Minister’s cabinet as elected by the parliament. Likewise the Indian cabinet consists of the Ministers in the Indian Cabinet and various international counterparts along with the Nepali ambassador.

These two cabinets will hold discussions in their own small councils at first, then move on to a joint session to negotiate the terms of the issue. This way after multiple sessions, the bilateral summit will iron out all kinks and present an outcome that is favorable to the citizens of both countries.

India Cabinet

Abhaya Gauchan

Chair

“Abhaya” generally translates to fearless in Nepali, which is funny because Abhaya Gauchan is the definition of fear itself.

The first thing you have to know about Abhaya is that he will not hesitate to say what comes to his mind and he will not care if it hurts you in any way. He will rip through you like a hungry lion mercilessly tearing raw flesh off an injured gazelle in the hot and wild African savanna, excruciating pain in each bite. Okay, maybe he’s not that extreme always but he sure can be if you try hard enough. But don’t worry, you’re lucky having Abhaya as your chair (as repeated as this line may be). His knowledge and wisdom exceeds his age and his maturity in debating leaves one in awe. If you’re not prepared this MUN then will have a bad time with Abhaya, with his snide remarks running down your confidence like roadkill. But on the other hand, by speaking up regularly, knowing your topics thoroughly and refraining from saying anything stupid, you’ll slowly start to gain his respect (even though he may not show it). And as intimidating as he may look on the outside, he’s a little ball of excitement and craziness within. He will get you involved in the most bizarre and ridiculous activities whether you like it or not. One thing you should be prepared for is his weird angles and odd poses when clicking pictures with you.

Abhaya has the mind of a 30 year old, looks of a 16 year old and character of a 10 year old. Beware of his sick and sadistic jokes that may pop up from time to time, and never (trust me in with this one) ever have a “joke session” or something when a motion for entertainment comes up. After a couple of weeks of this guy in the India Cabinet, you’ll have to recheck what you thought you knew about him.

Digesh Chitrakar

Vice chair

The very first thing you should know about Digesh is that he is indeed the perfect combination of shy and smart. A top-notch student and with several MUN awards under his belt, he is the ideal Vice-Chair. An intense debater, he will make sure to have the last word in any argument. Most of the time, he is as innocent and harmless as he looks, unless you happen to insult Anime, in which case expect the shy demeanour to fall apart; you will certainly not be spared. But if you happen to share the same love for Anime and even Manga, you will definitely have found a new best friend. Your Vice-Chair is incredibly hard-working and will be more than willing to help you, even in oddly hours (trust me, there is a reason he is always online). As someone who seems incredibly formal and does literally start every conversation with a “Hello”, Digesh, on the contrary, is a very friendly and endearing soul who will undoubtedly make you feel at home. Delegates, be sure to thank the stars that your Vice-Chair is gifted with the patience of a saint; you will rarely (if never) see him getting fed up or frustrated. With an unparalleled work ethic, he is every bit dedicated and responsible as you would imagine and expects the very same from you. An avid Harry Potter fan and a coffee enthusiast, Digesh is known to perpetually sport a poker face so you’re lucky if you get to see his  “I’m trying not to but I can’t help it” smile. Although it may not seem like it, make sure to throw all logical thoughts to the wind if you want to see his goofy side. Assuredly, Digesh will be a wonderful dais member and will work to make this MUN experience a memorable one.

Shiwangi Dawadi

Moderator

Puns, bollywood and more puns.  If Shiwangi had to describe her interests in 5 words or less, those would be it. An avid fan of K3G and other Bollywood classics, she’s the person you definitely want on your team if you are playing Antakshari or Dumb charades during a motion for entertainment.

Probably the least intimidating dais member in the committee, she (wangi) is easily approachable and always ready to answer any of your queries regarding the topic or the procedure. A Hufflepuff at heart (and in Pottermore), Shiwangi truly reflects all the core principles of the Hogwarts house - hard work, dedication, patience, justice and loyalty. While she does expect her delegates to have a sense of humor and humility, she does not appreciate crass and disrespectful remarks in the slightest.

An executive board member of the school magazine and a contributing writer for a daily national newspaper, Shiwangi is the best person to go to if you have any questions regarding the framework of your position paper or tips on how to express your ideas clearly during speeches.

One thing she hates more than the song Karma Chameleon (don’t even mention this in front of her delegates) and the Princess Leia hairstyle is tardiness. Be late to your sessions delegates (even the mock ones), and you might as well just wait for hell to rise. If you are sincere, hardworking and present original content, you’ll easily get on Shiwangi’s good books. (Psst, if you really want to go the extra mile, witty comebacks or fangirling about Akshay Kumar is the way to go).

Nepal Cabinet

Aakash Pant

Chair

Blessed with a humble heart and one of the most genuine souls one could ever come across, the delegates of the Nepali Cabinet should consider themselves the luckiest to have the most enthusiastic debater, Aakash Pant, as their chairperson for the RBS MUN 2016. Having a plethora of awards in numerous national and international MUN conferences to his name, Aakash debates like his life depends on it. Therefore, it isn’t a surprise to know that he represented the entire of our country Nepal, in the World School Debate Championship held in Germany. Your 'doctor to-be' chair has a copious amount of knowledge stored in that brilliant brain of his, so do not expect to get away with presenting false facts. An extremely down-to-earth person, he leaves everyone awestruck with his irresistible charm (*cough*ladies). Though he might seem quite intimidating, he is rather friendly and accommodating. As someone who believes in earning respect and not asking for it, Aakash will want the committee to put in at least half as much efforts into research as he does.

Aakash introduces people he converses with the intricate concepts and ideas he has devised over the years, but only those close to him are fortunate enough to hear what truly goes on in his mastermind. His chill attitude along with his passion for rock climbing and adventure makes him one of the best people to travel with, probably encouraging his co-voyagers to part-take in some outrageous yet interesting activities.

Though very grounded and simple, Aakash is also a lot like a mini Robin Hood, (cruising around on his cycle, sometimes making seven foot jumps over hills and even breaking a few bones in the process). Exceptionally outspoken and assertive, Aakash will, without a shadow of doubt, make the Nepali Cabinet THE place to be this MUN.

Arzoo Karki

Vice chair

Arzoo, (often known as Zoo), is the epitome beauty with brains, and perhaps, the most optimistic person you'll ever come across.

With a smile ready for whomever she meets and an extremely helpful attitude, Arzoo's generous and charming traits will remind you of a Disney princess. Diligent and hardworking, yet light hearted and fun loving, your vice chair will make your committee the liveliest amongst all especially with her carefree and infectious laughter. Being awarded the Outstanding Delegate in her very first MUN, her skills as a debater aren't to be undermined. Having the capacity to bring out the best in others as well as giving her best to every little thing she does, your vice chair expects the same level of effort and dedication from her delegates.

Arzoo leaves no stone unturned and expects the committee to be equally active and well-informed. Her debating side may be fierce and cynical but her softer side is generous in helping the first timers and will make sure you are comfortable and confident enough to speak during sessions. So, do not hesitate to approach her for she will always have your back and go out of her way to help you.

Always ready to break a leg (and join anyone on a lunch date), delegates of the Nepal Cabinet would be delighted to have Arzoo as their vice chair.

Franshika Pandey

Moderator

With her bold yet gentle nature, Franshika is undoubtedly one of the most coolheaded people you will come across your entire life. Her genial nature is sure to comfort you, to the extent you can even use your sense of humour to impress her. There is absolutely no reason to feel timorous to reach out to your moderator for help. She has an utterly divine voice (expect some humming throughout the session but don’t let it hypnotize you) and is a splendidly elegant dancer; isn’t it a big relief to know that the ‘motion for entertainment’ is going to be nothing short of captivating?  Adding to the list of her exceptional knacks, she is a gifted gourmand (you’ve got to trust me when I say gifted because you and I will never understand the radiance of nosh better than she does), well-researched about almost every single eatery in town.

However, do not mistake her “chill” behaviour for thinking that you can slack away in the committee. With four MUN experiences to boot, she is abundantly equipped with tools to direct the committee in the most spellbinding avenue. She will unequivocally do all that it takes to make sure that every minute in the committee is action-packed, assuring you an unexcelled MUN experience.
