Jigyasa Subedi
In a normal scenario, you can find her contemplating about the smallest of things, often staring into the empty space in front of her. If she notices you, then run; faster than the Flash!
All jokes aside, the word that best describes Jigyasa is “genuine”. She excels in linguistic skills and you will often notice her correcting you as you speak. As an editor, she will do a hell of a job, especially since she’s always striving for perfection (she will literally work on improving the same sentence for hours if it isn’t satisfactory). Delegates, Jigyasa might seem a little weird at first but, trust me, once you get to know her, she’s an extremely cheerful and motivating person—one who will actually take the time to get to know you and try to help you out to the best of her abilities. Don’t be freaked out if she randomly pops up and asks for your birthday; she has a habit of guessing the zodiac sign of a person according to their behavior. She also does a small dance if she’s in a good mood (you might notice it if you look carefully).
Even though she’s an ambivert, she mostly keeps to herself. However, she’s not too shy to start a conversation. A passionate reader and binge-watcher (like most of us), Jigyasa is mostly into drama and comedy. Shows such as How to Get Away with Murder, Friends, Modern Family are the ones that top her list of favorites. She may be tiny, but don't underestimate her. She'll definitely do her best to make the MUN a productive and convivial one.
Raissa Shrestha
Raissa, or Rice as many call her (though I advise you not to call her that), initially may not talk much or reveal much about herself, so hopefully this description will give you press members an insight into your extremely diligent editor this MUN.
Raissa puts her heart and soul into everything she does and will expect the same level of dedication from you. Though she may not be the best debater, she was part of an immensely hardworking team of editors in her time as a press member and will surely bring about the same flair this year. Professional, pretty, hardheaded, and modest, Raissa is an approachable character who you’ll love working alongside—with the occasional words of wisdom, to maybe a few of her witty puns (which will leave her laughing for a couple of minutes while you stand there in confusion unable to comprehend the situation). Instead of going on about how “lucky you’ll be to have her as an editor”, you should just know that you’re sure as hell going to be working under one of the best out there, from whom you’ll learn and grow a lot.
As I mentioned before, Raissa may not seem to be the talkative type, but the moment you start talking about Harry Potter, Sebastian Stan or the array of TV shows she watches, she can go on for hours on the smallest of topics. Also, her love for books and puppies knows no bounds as she will stop by every pet store just to play with the puppies for a couple of minutes and will squeal with delight if presented with a picture of one (which can clearly be used to your advantage if you’ve missed a deadline). Raissa is a diehard Eminem fan, well versed with his raps, and is also a talented dancer — a fact that shouldn’t be missed out. Though she may seem like a harmless bunny with glasses most of the time, you better make sure you don’t aggravate her to the point where she becomes the killer rabbit who will gnaw your face off; because you know you’ve messed up when a person as composed as Raissa gets mad.
So be prepared for an entertaining, demanding yet educative experience this year with your out-STAN-ding editor.
Sasha Malla
This RBSMUN, you all have the great honor and privilege of having Sasha Malla as one of your heads of press. An incredibly modest and amazingly intuitive person, Sasha is just what the press team needs: someone who can whole heartedly steer the committee to the right direction when it strays off the path. Having won the Best Press Member award when he himself worked in the Press Corps of RBSMUN 2014, Sasha undoubtedly knows his way around the room.
In addition to being kind and charming, Sasha also has a knack for consistency and quality – which is exactly what he expects from the reporters. Those who do not deliver can book their plane tickets out of town, because if not, Sasha will be that “force” that books and sayings always told you not to reckon with. So all those who work with him need to be ready to give their best throughout the session.
To give you some background about Sasha's life, you should firstly know that he is like Rembrandt on the field while playing football, and similarly when playing the piano as well. He has a cat named Punte who he cares for like his own son, and we are fairly suspicious regarding that matter to be honest. I shouldn't even mention the fact that he's the stud of the school (ladies *ahem*), and you’ll probably hear that from at least one or more of your fellow delegates; only to find your way up to the international press room to see "that really cute head of press dai" who works there. Probably the biggest problem the logistics team faces is to figure out how to keep the windows of the international press room crowd-free. He is half-Ukrainian too (exotic man), but don’t try speaking Russian with him, or he'll throw some shade and sassy looks your way.
In short; Sasha plays the piano, loves animals, owns a cat, speaks an exotic foreign language and looks like Zac Efron does in Neighbors. The dreamy character of every romantic comedy you’ve ever watched and your Head of Press, Sasha Malla.
Priya Pradhan
There is a Shakespeare quote that goes, “Though she be but little, she is fierce!” and no eight words could summarize Priya Pradhan any better. Having won two “Best Press” awards, she is certainly on top of her game when it comes to the dynamics of the MUN press. Do not be fooled by her seemingly unthreatening ways, for if you rub this girl the wrong way, she will not hesitate to send an earful in your direction, so you might want to avoid being lazy! (I also feel obligated to warn you that she goes kickboxing on a regular basis.)
The “Mother Hen” of the friendship group, Priya is a very caring soul who strives to help everyone. So, do not hesitate to approach her for advice. For those of you, who want to stay on her good side, strike up a conversation about “The Flash”, “Supernatural”, dogs, and the extensive list of books she has read. Also, the keen baker, her mouth-watering cookies might just sweeten your taste buds if you’re lucky enough.
A lively personality, Priya is sure to be a little ray of sunshine, unless you fail to live up to your responsibilities, so do not disappoint the perfectionist in her. The flautist herself, she deeply enjoys music, so if you happen to be playing a guitar around the school premises, you can expect her to pop up out of thin air. One of the most considerate personalities I’ve ever known, your sub-editor will always be there to lend a helping hand and will try incredibly hard to get along with everyone, so do not take her for granted. All in all, you couldn’t have a better sub-editor. (P.S. Make sure, you try your best to make her bust a move for once at this year’s delegate dance.)
